Dr Alexandra Merkel

Dr Alexandra Merkel began her career after completing her PhD in protein crystallography from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 2004. Right after her graduation, she took on a consultancy role at speedikon FM, leading the consulting department from 2008 onwards. In this position she was responsible for all customer projects of the software company and had a profound influence on the standard software development in Facility Management solutions. 

In 2012, Dr Alexandra Merkel became CEO of speedikon FM, a position she held until 2018. Her tenure was marked by a concentrated effort on steering the strategic course of the company. She also increased the general standing of Facility Management and speedikon FM in general as a member of the board of the German professional association for Real Estate and Facility Managers, RealFM e.V. 

In 2018, Dr Alexandra Merkel ventured back into academics, pursuing a Master's degree in Neuroscience at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. From 2019 onwards she engaged in neuroscience research at the Interdisciplinary Center for Neuroscience until 2023. 

Since 2023, Dr Alexandra Merkel has been working at the German AI consulting company Innomatik, initially within its R&D department. At the beginning of 2024, she took on the role of CTO, now guiding the company’s technological strategy and innovation.
