Quantum Key Distribution as part of a Dual Quantum-Safe Strategy

As digitisation and digitised assets become an existential part of organisations and our society, new technological and geopolitical threats require the largest ever cryptographic migration programme, affecting virtually all of our data transfer and communication channels. To minimise risk and implement appropriate defence in depth, we propose a dual strategy based on Quantum Key Distribution alongside post-quantum cryptography to protect communications backbones, datacentre interconnects and critical infrastructure. This is possible today because QKD is a mature technology that has been deployed in production networks in a growing number of countries. This talk is a call for more collaboration on QKD security standards, integrated quantum-safe solutions and building sustainable markets.
