Deep Dive: Optimisation: Use Cases, Tools & Methods

The talk will showcase a few industrial optimization problems that are hard to solve in practice, most notably job shop scheduling. It will outline classical solution approaches to solving these problems, how they differ from academic problems and what QC approaches have been proposed. We will discuss limitations of the QC approaches, derive hardware requirements and outline which platforms currently seem like the most suitable. By the end of the talk, attendees will gain a better understanding of the opportunities for QC in solving industrial NP-hard problems, and the potential impact this could have on various industries.
