Toward Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing
Dr Dr Regina Finsterhölzl is a physicist, scientist, and software developer in the field of quantum computing. Her expertise centers on error correction, developing advanced software for real-world quantum systems, and on the theory of quantum information processing on real quantum hardware. For many years, she has been dedicated to her mission of bringing quantum computing into practical application—both in industry and academia.
As a Senior R&D Scientist at Quantinuum, she works on co-designing error-corrected applications and fault-tolerant algorithms for the next generation of scalable quantum computers. Previously, she conducted research at the University of Konstanz on the theory of quantum information processing in solid-state systems, designing protocols for the precise control and manipulation of quantum information on existing hardware and developing simulators for modeling error-prone quantum processors. As a consultant, she supported German government institutions in strategic projects on quantum applications and post-quantum cryptography, and led a study on the practical utilization of quantum computers. In addition, she developed software tools for data analysis and natural language processing. She holds two PhDs, one in natural sciences, the other in humanities, and is a book author on the history on decolonization.
