Toward Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing
Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing with Trapped Ions
Fault-tolerant quantum computing has become a systems challenge, where qubit quality, connectivity, real-time control and software must work together. This talk introduces Quantinuum’s hardware and software stack, centered on the 98-qubit Helios trapped-ion system, and explores experiments ranging from beyond-break-even concatenated codes and code-switched magic states to emerging high-rate qLDPC protocols. The results reveal the practical trade-offs among leading approaches and clarify what useful logical quantum computation will require.
