Presentation

Our modern cars carry increasing amounts of sensors and electronics that save energy, increase the free flow of traffic, and save lives. However, with increasing electronics density within the car, heat management of the components becomes increasingly important. Simply adding component redundancies or safety margins lowers energy efficiency and increases the cost of the vehicles. Therefore, high-resolution simulations of heat dissipation in electronic building parts are crucial to be more energy efficient and cost-effective. Quantum computers promise a leap in quality and resolution of these simulations. Schaeffler and Kipu Quantum set out to explore this possibility.

Differential equations are essential for engineering simulations, as they model real-world phenomena across industrial processes and continuous systems in general. Kipu Quantum, together with Schaeffler will present the status of a new project, where both companies aim to assess quantum computing solutions and evaluate current quantum processors for solving these differential equations in an exploratory project.
