PD Dr habil Jeanette Miriam Lorenz

PD Dr. habil. Jeanette Miriam Lorenz is head of the department »Quantum computing « at the Fraunhofer Institute for Cognitive Systems IKS and associate professor at LMU Munich in physics. She also leads the application side of the Munich Quantum Valley as consortium speaker. Jeanette Lorenz studied physics and mathematics at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (FAU) Erlangen and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich and completed her PhD in physics with honors from LMU Munich in 2014 and her habilitation in physics in 2020. She conducted many years of research in experimental high-energy particle physics at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) and in Munich, where her specialty was the search for dark matter particle candidates at the Large Hadron Collider. In 2021 she switched to quantum computing. She has led numerous international research groups both at LMU Munich and at CERN. In her work, she has always combined the most cutting-edge data science techniques with topics in physics.
