Google Cloud & Thales Germany: What a Sovereign Cloud Must deliver for Germany’s Critical Infrastructure?
Michael Neuber is Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Google Cloud in the DACH region and serves as the EU Lead for Cloud Resilience and AI for Cyber Defence. Previously, from 2020 to 2024, he managed data and digital policy for Google as Head of Data, Privacy, and Security. From 2012 to 2020, Neuber was General Counsel for the German Digital Association (BVDW), advising the association and its members on legal matters regarding data protection, IT, copyright, and media law; he was also ultimately responsible for the association's policy advocacy. Prior to that, he worked as a lawyer at a Berlin-based firm specializing in IT and media law and was admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales (non-practicing). Neuber is a deputy board member of the Self-Regulation Information Economy association (SRiW) and a member of the BVDW’s Honorary Council; he also served on the advisory board of the Voluntary Self-Regulation of Multimedia Service Providers (FSM).
