Fabian Malms

Fabian Malms is a project manager in the ‘AI Assurance and Assessments’ department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS) and, amongst other things, leads the KI.NRW flagship project ‘Certified AI’. He holds two Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees in European Law and Business Law from Maastricht University. His work focuses on AI governance and the question of how ‘AI Act compliance by design’ can be achieved in organisations through AI quality and risk management. Prior to this, he spent ten years working in the financial sector, including in compliance roles and in corporate development with a focus on digitalisation, product development and transformation. During this time, as a project manager, his responsibilities included setting up an ‘AI Lab’ and overseeing the development and implementation of various AI systems at a major European bank.
