Dr Sven Schmeier

Dr Sven Schmeier is the Chief Engineer and Deputy Director of the Speech Technology Laboratory at DFKI. He also heads the Center for Generative AI at DFKI. Sven studied Physics and Computer Science at the University of Saarland, graduating with a Master’s degree. His doctoral thesis in Computational Linguistics focused on “Exploratory Search on Mobile Devices.” Sven has extensive experience in areas such as data mining and machine learning, big data analytics, question answering, and mobile applications of NLP technologies. He has successfully led over 25 national and international projects in both research and industry. He possesses comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of the entire innovation process in his fields, from fundamental research to product development and marketing.
