Dr Lara Ehrenhofer

Dr Lara Ehrenhofer is a Senior Value Engineer at Aleph Alpha, where she takes sovereign LLM products from benchmarking into production across the German public sector, returning hours to end users buried in routine documentation and capacity to their organisations. Her career has been spent where AI is judged by consequence rather than novelty: in-vehicle voice assistants that work hands-busy and without connectivity, and clinical documentation where every output is regulated and human-approved. She treats sovereignty as an engineering question of control, specialisation and resilience: where a model runs, whose data trained it, how far it can be tuned to an institution's own language, and whether it keeps working when a link is cut. She holds a PhD in linguistics from the University of Maryland, on a Fulbright scholarship, and a BA and MPhil from Oxford.
