Claudia Nemat (*12.12.1968) is an international Board Director (ABB, Deutsche Börse Group and Daimler Truck), as well as an entrepreneur with a focus on technology and AI. She is also the chair of the Advisory Council of IQM Quantum Computers. Between 2011 and 2025, she served for 14 years on the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom, including as CEO of its European business and as Board Member for Technology and Innovation. During this period, she played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s technological, commercial and cultural transformation, helping to develop Deutsche Telekom into a global leader in the telco sector. Her background as a physicist and — prior to joining Deutsche Telekom — as a Senior Partner at McKinsey&Company (1994 until 2011) with responsibility for the firm’s global technology practice, together with her previous roles as Board member at Airbus and Lanxess, has shaped her perspective: getting to the heart of things, simplifying without oversimplifying, building great products, providing clarity, and creating focus in an increasingly volatile world. Her conviction is that people must remain at center of technological innovation, economic activity and political decision-making. Claudia Nemat holds a master’s degree in theoretical physics from the University of Cologne. Since 2014, she has served on the University Council of the University of Cologne. In 2021, she was awarded the Heinrich Hertz Honorary Visiting Professorship by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). She is also a member of the Presidium of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), the senate of the Leibniz-Gemeinschaft and has served on several expert commissions of the German Federal Government, most recently on the Commission on Competition and Artificial Intelligence.
