Ansgar Baums

Ansgar Baums is General Manager at Microsoft and member of the country leadership team in Germany and Austria. Prior, Ansgar held management positions at Zoom, HP, Hewlett-Packard, and SAP. Ansgar also worked for German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications, and New Media – Bitkom, and Germany’s domestic intelligence service Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Ansgar wrote two books on geopolitics and technology ("Tech Cold War" and "Die Stunde der Nashörner", both published in 2025). He holds a master’s degree with distinction in international strategy and economics from the University of St. Andrews and a postgraduate degree in political science from the Free University Berlin. He is a non-residential fellow at the Stimson Center in Washington DC and the Global Public Policy Institute in Berlin.
