Matthias Zimmermann has obtained his PhD in 2021 at Ulm University focusing on the interference of matter waves, few-body physics, surface-gravity water waves and the observation of the Kennard phase with the help of atom interferometers. Afterwards he moved to the Institute of Quantum Technologies of the German Aerospace Center. There he leads the “Quantum Simulations and Applications Group”, which focuses on innovative theoretical concepts in quantum computing and quantum networks and their applications. Currently, he is also executive board member of the German Physical Society (DPG) for Young Members and Professional Matters. Amongst several other board positions, he was also President of the International Association of Physics Students (IAPS).
