Industrial AI: How AI secures the future of industry

  • AI regarded by the majority as decisive for competitiveness
  • White paper outlines the status quo, practical examples and political levers

Berlin, 14 November 2025 – Whether self-learning robots, predictive maintenance or simulation-based development, AI has arrived in industry and is considered the key to the next stage of automation. At the beginning of the year, 42 per cent of German industrial companies were already using artificial intelligence in production. So-called “Industrial AI” can optimise processes, reduce the use of resources, enable new data-driven business models and strengthen cooperation between companies, research institutions and technology providers. As a result, 82 per cent of industrial companies are convinced that the use of AI will be decisive for the future competitiveness of the sector.

The new white paper “Industrial AI – Intelligence for the Production of Tomorrow” now provides an overview of the status quo, the benefits and the prerequisites for Industrial AI in Germany. Using practical examples from research and development, production, logistics and infrastructure, it illustrates the wide range of application areas across the entire value chain. It also identifies the political measures needed to scale successful projects and secure Germany’s innovation leadership from investments in key technologies and practice-oriented funding programmes to better framework conditions for cooperation and skills development.

The practical examples and political guidelines from the white paper are presented here in German in a clickable format.
